Washell Olivaw quote: "Because having every employee on bug fixing and stability isn't (cost) effective. It's the principle of diminishing returns"
LOL - I'm a paying customer .. I don't give a hoot about their internal priorities :)

You're a paying customer that can't read a EULA.
nope - I'm a paying customer that don't read EULA's by definition :)

this is the real reason guys isnt it? eh?
lol - that I would respect! They do a good job, but they need to hear when they do not perform well. I think our Interstellat Council will make a difference ... or perhaps I'm also naive in addition to being a cry-baby :)

Originally by: Archuthas I noticed problems last night with deliveries not showing up. If I went to that station where I purchased the item I could pick up the delivery. Other than that no complaints overall.
MY PERSONAL NOTE TO THE WHINERS! Downtime happens, both scheduled and unscheduled. I personally think that CCP has done a great job of keep Tranquility up and running over the years. When you all create and run your own successful MMO then you'll understand what it takes to keep the darn thing online.
So get over it and be thankful that the staff at CCP found out that there was a problem and started working to get it fixed as quickly as possible.
MY PERSONAL NOTE TO THE fanboys - thanks for sharing your lack of knowledge in systems operation

Know the feeling, been married 8 years and I get told off for, ahem, touching things I shouldn't
If Eve isn't up at the promised time, I might have to actually have a conversation and confuse my wife also!
meh, it's been 8 years, i wouldn't worry too much about it, but when u start using eve terminolgy for sexual acts in bed, "eg: can i bring my thorax in to dock?" then it's probably time to seek some marital counselling.
priceless :)

Originally by: DavidValentine M'eh, at the end of the day if any of you guys think y'all can do better and make an MMO of this size and keep it running perfectly. Lets see it!
I would like to know the following three things: 1) You've said it's a database issue CCP, what exactly is wrong with it? 2) Why do dogs have wet noses? 3) What caused it to start happening?
I'm not CCp, but i'll take a stab at it: re 1) it's probably a Microsoft SQL server (no more info needed) re 2) because they can re 3) see 1) above

Thanks CCP
under-estimating the faults in Microsoft SQL Server is a great under-estimation

rofl - it's a perfect time for introducing the new features in Tyrannis. Large fleet battles are rock solid so lets throw some more features in there

it's quite simple actually - your database is as stable as the Iskies you invest in it - dependant on the quality of the work or your database design people.
Why do you think Goldman Sachs or Morgan Stanley trading systems have a downtime of LESS than 0.001% - it's all about sales and marketing - don't blame the CCP developers

how about spending your energy on informing us about the current situation instead? I assume that you have zero contact to the development department, so perhaps it might be an idea to work on that in the future

how about spending your energy on something other than camping the eve-o forum? I assume that you have zero friends in the real world, so perhaps it might be an idea to work on that in the future
heh heh - it just so happens that it's my Eve-time right now ... my wife is off for gymnastics (!), my kids are out of the house and all my drinking buddies are in jail. I don't think a fanboy/girl like you will understand

LMAO funniest comment in this thread so far.
Whats so funny? its 12:33pm here I get off work in 5 hours, then i have a 40 min drive home because of traffic so nearly 6 hours, plus 1 hour at the gym so 7 hours. Yeah EvE will be up by then.
But if not, im glad i have my skill queue full.
the funny part is that your chance of making it home without getting mugged or shot is higher than the chance that EVE will be online

give me a freakin break - the database is as good as the ISK you thow at it. Imagine one of the top-5 Investment banks going off-line for an hour ... not happening.

I'm pretty sure the bank would have the money to throw at getting 5 9's uptime. Sure CCP could get 5 9's but your monthly fee would likely have to go up to pay for the extra hardware, licences and staff...
Edit: 5 9's = 99.999% - Sorry, used to referring to it as that at work.
.... which confirms my point: it's a matter of how much they invest in the tools (i.e. DB) and people (e.g. DB designers, admins etc.) ... obviously they need to throw a few more ISK at this

So you (and others) wouldn't moan if that entailed your monthly payment (or whatever you choose for a payment cycle) went up as a result of providing for that?
lol - if they can just provide a useable forum that would ge a great start. On your question: they should just make sure that the current features are working in a decent way - i.e. major fleet battles, then I would be happy to pay more

Interstellar Council my ass...
lol - please elaborate. Do they not work for us and have access to CCP? I read the last minutes and the issues they bought up where important to me. So I guess CCP don't give a hoot and it's just a marketing stunt, I'm not surprised.
